Shopify Plus Partner

Shopify Plus development
for brands that have outgrown standard Shopify

Shopify Plus is a different platform. Custom checkout logic, Shopify Functions, B2B wholesale, multi-store management — these capabilities require a developer who has actually built on Plus, not just read the documentation. I've been a Shopify Plus Partner for 5+ years and have worked on Plus stores across the full capability set.

What Plus gives you

What Shopify Plus unlocks that standard Shopify doesn't

These aren't marketing features — they're platform-level capabilities that fundamentally change what's possible on your store. Each one requires specific development expertise to implement correctly.

Checkout

Custom Checkout

Standard Shopify locks the checkout. Plus unlocks Checkout UI Extensions and Checkout Extensibility — letting you add custom fields, upsells, validation logic, loyalty integrations, and trust signals directly in the checkout flow.

  • Post-purchase upsell pages
  • Custom shipping method display logic
  • Order attribute capture (gift messages, B2B POs)
  • Dynamic free shipping thresholds
Serverless

Shopify Functions

Shopify Functions replace Script Editor and run at the Shopify infrastructure level — not in the browser. This means custom discount logic, cart transformations, and payment customization without JavaScript slowdowns or third-party apps.

  • Volume discounts & tiered pricing
  • Custom bundle discount logic
  • Delivery date customization
  • Payment method filtering by cart contents
Automation

Shopify Flow

Shopify Flow is a no-code automation builder exclusive to Plus. It handles order workflows, customer tagging, fulfillment triggers, loyalty actions, and inventory management without needing Zapier or custom webhook code.

  • Auto-tag high-value customers
  • Fraud order workflows
  • Restock notifications & reorder triggers
  • Cross-store inventory sync
B2B

B2B Native

Shopify Plus includes native B2B — wholesale pricing, net payment terms, company accounts, and quantity rules — without needing third-party wholesale apps. Run D2C and B2B from the same storefront or separate them with company-specific catalogs.

  • Tiered wholesale pricing
  • Net 30/60/90 payment terms
  • Company accounts with multiple buyers
  • B2B-specific checkout & order flows
Multi-store

Shopify Organization

The Plus Organization admin lets you manage multiple Shopify stores from a single dashboard — centralized user management, cross-store reporting, and shared staff accounts across brands or markets without logging in and out of each store.

  • Centralized user access control
  • Cross-store analytics dashboard
  • Shared automations across stores
  • One subscription covers multiple stores
International

Shopify Markets

Multi-currency, multi-language, and localized storefronts managed from one store. Shopify Markets (available on Plus) handles pricing by market, local payment methods, duty and import tax display, and geolocation-based redirects without managing separate stores per country.

  • Per-market pricing & currency
  • Localized domains (.co.uk, .de, etc.)
  • Duty & tax at checkout (DDP)
  • Local payment methods (BACS, SEPA, etc.)

Is it worth it?

Is Shopify Plus worth the $2,000/month fee?

Straight answer: yes, if you need what it unlocks — and no, if you don't. Here's how to tell the difference.

Shopify Plus makes sense if...

Revenue is above $500k–$1M/year. At that level the Plus fee is a rounding error versus the revenue impact of checkout optimization alone.

You need custom checkout logic. Free shipping bars in checkout, custom upsells, specific order fields — not possible without Plus.

You're running B2B alongside D2C. Native wholesale pricing and net terms pay for themselves within the first month compared to third-party wholesale apps.

You have 5+ active third-party apps handling logic. Replacing them with Shopify Functions often eliminates $500–$2,000/month in app fees while improving performance.

You're selling internationally across 3+ markets. Markets Pro eliminates the need for multiple stores and separate app stacks per country.

You manage multiple Shopify stores. The Organization admin and centralized billing alone justify the upgrade.

You probably don't need Plus if...

Revenue is under $500k/year. Standard Shopify Advanced at $299/month handles almost everything a sub-$500k store needs. The jump to Plus at $2,000/month rarely pays back.

You don't need checkout customization. If your checkout works as-is and you're not building complex discount or payment logic, you're paying for something you won't use.

You have a single market with one currency. Markets Pro and multi-currency are wasted on a single-market store.

You're early-stage and still testing product-market fit. The infrastructure overhead of Plus is a distraction when the priority is still validating the business model.

FAQ

Shopify Plus: common questions

What is Shopify Plus and how is it different from standard Shopify?

Shopify Plus is the enterprise tier of Shopify, priced from $2,000/month. The core differences are: access to Checkout Extensibility (customize the checkout page), Shopify Functions (serverless custom business logic), Shopify Flow (workflow automation), native B2B wholesale, the Organization admin for managing multiple stores, and dedicated Plus support. Standard Shopify Advanced ($299/month) covers most needs for growing stores — Plus is for merchants that have specific requirements those plans can't meet.

Do I need a certified Shopify Plus Partner to build on Plus?

There's no technical requirement — any developer can work on a Plus store with admin access. However, the Shopify Plus Partner designation means I have a direct relationship with Shopify for support escalation, early access to new Plus APIs, and verified experience. More practically, it means I've built on Plus across its full feature set — Checkout Extensibility, Functions, B2B, and Organization — rather than just having read the documentation. For complex Plus implementations, experience is the credential that matters.

How long does a migration to Shopify Plus take?

A migration from standard Shopify to Plus (where the platform and data are already on Shopify) typically takes 2–4 weeks — mostly setup of Plus-specific features and configuration. A migration from an external platform (WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce) to Plus takes 4–8 weeks depending on catalog size, custom functionality, and data complexity. See the migration page for a detailed breakdown of what's involved.

Can you replace third-party apps with Shopify Functions?

Often, yes. Shopify Functions cover discount logic (tiered pricing, bundle discounts, BOGO), cart transforms, payment method filtering, and delivery customization. Many stores run 3–5 apps for these capabilities at $50–$300/month each. A custom Function replaces the app, removes the monthly fee, and typically performs better because it runs at Shopify's infrastructure level rather than via a webhook callback. Not everything can be replaced — but for logic-heavy apps, it's often worth the one-time development cost.

What's the difference between Checkout Extensibility and the old checkout.liquid?

Shopify deprecated checkout.liquid (direct HTML editing of the checkout) in favour of Checkout Extensibility — a framework of React-based UI Extensions that lets you add custom blocks, fields, and sections to the checkout without touching Shopify's core checkout code. The practical impact: checkout customization is now more stable (your customizations survive Shopify updates), more performant, and scoped to what Shopify exposes via the Extensions API. Most things brands previously did with checkout.liquid are achievable via Extensions — though some edge cases that relied on raw HTML manipulation are no longer possible.
